RIGHT PROCEDURE FOR SOFTWARE SELLING
The Right procedure for
software selling is personal selling when each customer has his
own requirements and each one wants to get software product
modified according to hos own requirements. The right procedure
which a company should follow to sell software should take place
in following steps:-
Visit the
customer site
Make a
detailed analysis of customer requirements
Develop
an initial prototype based on these requirements
Again
visit the customer site install this prototype in computer systems
at client site
Give them
sufficient time to work on this prototype and let them evaluate
the prototype version
Again
visit the customer after said time and take feedback from
them
Present
these feedbacks to development team of company for enhancement of
the prototype so as to develop into the modified version which
could best meet the customer requirements
Do
negotiation with customers for price settlement
Install
the full and licensed version of your software at the client
site
Test the
software at client site with the real time inputs given by
customer which is also called beta testing. Beta testing is the
second part of testing phase in a software development process.
Actually the software development phase has two parts: Alpha
Testing and Beta Testing.
Provide
the training in the software to the customer by training
personnel
Collect
the requisite payment
Maintenance of software at regular times is a necessary
process to further refine the original software into better
software which could best meet the market needs.
The times
when the requirements of each customer do not vary very much this
prototype is made as the demo version of the software. The demo
version of the software could be made in 3 ways:-
The
software expires after a definite period of time
The
Software expires after a definite number of entries
Eighty
percent or many features are disabled.
Among all these the best one is to
permit the full software for a definite number of
entries.
